“Young men and women must be taught to become smart.”

They appear to be interested in embracing evil, so I don’t think that “smart” is the problem.

It seems to be a moral issue, where they simply want to be horrible people.

Now, going around looking unapproachable will certainly reduce male attention by that amount…

Good point. Another thing beautiful women do is avoid eye contact. I’ve been with them, very aware of all the male heads turning, but when I observe this, they’re oblivious. They deliberately avoid giving any positive reinforcement or signs of approachability.

“But we are products of our times and our societies…maybe society ain’t doing such a bang-up job raising us.”

They’re probably not getting the message that the World is a fallen and broken place, full of completely depraved humanity.

I don’t think it’s as concentrated as you say, but one might ask what guys find “hot.” Is the heavily made up girl in 5 inch heels grinding on the dance floor going to be perceived as hotter than the equally attractive girl without makeup who doesn’t go to Toad’s but sings in the acapella group? My guess is that David has never even noticed the singer. He’s at Toad’s checking out the new, most social, drinking freshmen girls.

Susan, you’re thinking like a woman. Trust me, a man notices all women (unless he’s somehow so hot/popular that he actually has more available than he can “scope out”). As someone pointed out to SSM, guys are always scanning, always looking, always weighing prospects. It’s a reflex. (now that would be an interesting experiment: let guys walk into a crowded mix room, then ask them how many girls are present – get them to answer as fast as possible, I bet they can do it without thinking) If David’s not seeing the acapella girl, it’s probably because he’s literally not seen her – their paths haven’t crossed. (That’s one problem with a lot of social cues today, most assume that there’s only one method of meeting – the bar – that so few consider other possible avenues. That and approaching at any other avenue can often come off as more “creepy” than at the bar.)
