The Martingale

The Martingale was famously used by Casanova, the notorious Venetian lover and adventurer. He was well known for taking risks, so it should come as no surprise that he favored this ultra-risky system.

The Martingale was formulated using an exponentially increasing bet, to ensure that a player will either always win or lose at least twice in blackjack. The stakes are normally small, usually something like one unit.

So if you are dealt a 5, you bet 5 on the first card, let's say 10. If you lose, you bet 10 again and you win. If you lose again, you bet 100, and once again, you bet 10. You keep doing this until you win.

However, the dangers of the Martingale system are that any significant loss would likely mean an end to the game, unless you had unlimited funds. In order to protect the casino, a number of minimums and maximums were built into the system to limit the amount that can be won.

The Martingale was banned from being played in casinos after it was discovered that a player had won enormous amounts using it. Because it was being used, casinos across the world made it a Required Casino Skill. Requirements

In order to play the Martingale, a player must have at least a Proper Blackjack Table, which can be purchased for home. Aside from this, the house will also need at least one, but preferably more than one deck of playing cards, to play multiple hands. The Maximum Rule

Although no one can predict when cards will come out of the shoe, there is no doubt that there are casino games that are better than others, at least in the short term. The Martingale is one of these games.

To play the Martingale, there are two limits. One is the maximum amount that can be bet. For example, a player can bet a total of $10,000 on the first hand. If the bet is lost, the player can bet $10,000 again, and double the bet. The second limit is the minimum bet at which you can start betting. For example, before the first hand, the player may bet only $50, so the bet would be $100. Starting on the first hand, and betting to the maximum rule, the player may bet over $1,000, or $2,000, without being asked.

You win if you have the better hand, and by default a coin-flip hand.

If you bet the coin-flip hand, you win if you have the better hand, but lose if you don't.
