CHECK - Players may check if there is not a wager on the current bet round. The act that a poker player checks passes the action to the next one clockwise. A check does not affect your right to bet, but it does not forfeit your interest in the pot. A round is considered complete when all players have checked during a round.

Hold 'em hands are very simple to play. Each player is dealt two cards face down. The next round of betting follows. The table is then populated with three cards. These cards are shared by all players. The next stage is betting. A single card then gets dealt face up, and another round is followed by betting.

The first round is of betting after the first deal. The dealer will then bring the first round to the table and deal the community cards face up. The Flop is the first round, and it exposes three cards. Players then bet again, starting with the player on the dealer's left. Any player refusing to call, or agreeing to pay, the bet is cancelled and he exits the game. The remaining players then see the Turn, the fourth community cards. The River displays the last community cards after players have blinked. The last bets are made and the remaining players reveal their 5-card hand.

This game is very similar to 7-card Stud, except for a few technicalities. The betting sequence is the same. The betting round begins with whichever card is the highest. The biggest difference in the games is that hi-lo has both the highest hands and the lowest hands. This allows for the players to split the pot. This happens only if there is a sufficiently low hand at the table. For a hand that qualifies for the "lo", it must contain five cards of eight or lower and no pairs. If there isn't a hand of this type, the player with highest hand wins the whole pot. This version of stud poker is easier if you have a good grasp on the rules.
