The origins of Jalusi can be traced back to the Middle East and Mediterranean regions, where the hot, dry climate made natural ventilation a necessity. The first prototypes were made from wooden frames with small slits cut into them to allow for air circulation. Over time, these slits were replaced with hinged glass plates, which could be opened or closed as needed. By the 18th century, the design had evolved to include adjustable louvers that could be tilted to regulate the amount of light and air entering a space.
